Welcome to Boquio Iron & Glass

Stained Glass

Working as a glass artist Tricia has expanded the horizons of stained glass by realizing glass pieces that, once conceived, are fused and formed in the kiln to create aesthetic works of art that are actually four dimensional, the forth dimension - transparency.

After working with traditional stained glass for many years Tricia discovered kiln formed glass and, under the tutelage of internationally renowned fused glass artist Detlef Tanz, began exploring this delightful and expressive medium.

To broaden further her knowledge of glass, and expand her skills Tricia undertook a postgraduate Master of Arts Degree with the University of Wales. Based at the Swansea Institute of Higher Education, which is accepted worldwide as a centre of excellence for glass, Tricia worked hard to achieve the MA and for her final project she created artworks designed for the Eden Project combining kiln formed glass with wood, granite and John's wrought iron work. The culmination of the hard work was the award of the Master of Arts Degree in Art and Design ~ Glass.

With a deep respect of ancient history and a love of the natural environment, Tricia is motivated to emulate nature and capture its wonders in traditional and contemporary designs in fused glass which will last forever.

As a designer-maker each piece of Tricia's work is individually designed, the glass cut, prepared and fired in the kiln, a process taking several days. Tricia's love of painting led her to develop glass pictures to hang on the wall created by fusing. Her style is recognizable and designs range from highly detailed to abstract organic and geometric patterns. Tricia is developing her sculptural work using the ancient techniques of glass casting and pate de verre and the modern method of uv bonding.

Her fused glass reflects and echoes the colours and textures of Cornwall's natural world and Tricia's inspiration comes equally from the Cornish countryside and the coast near her home.
